Fresh off shooting Elvis & Nixon, synthpop singer Sky Ferreira has landed another role in the indie crime drama The Trust. According to the TheWrap, the forthcoming project will star Nicolas Cage and Elijah Wood as a pair of dicey police officers who find themselves in the thick of a heist after planning to rob a vault full of cash at their local grocery store.
Ferreira has split her time recently between her burgeoning music career and roles for the silver screen. Elvis & Nixon will mark only the third film for the young starlet. Her previous films include The Green Inferno and Putty Hill. Elvis & Nixon will also star House of Cards actor Kevin Spacey and the ever-underrated Michael Shannon. The film will follow the story of an infamous meeting that took place between the king of rock ‘n roll and the former president in 1970.
Aside from her planned theatrical releases, Ferreira is also reported to be working on her follow-up album to Night Time, My Time. She recently collaborated with Primal Scream’s frontman Bobby Gillepsie on a number of tracks for the record. She has described the sophomore effort as a being “more aggressive” than her first. She briefly teased the album last year when she jokingly tweeted the name of the first single to be “Everything is Bullshit,” a stab at her popular song “Everything is Embarrassing.”
Although Ferreira’s part in The Trust has yet to be announced, she should feel right at home with the new project. First-time directors Benjamin and Alex Brewer have had their fair share of experience in the music field. Prior to their work on the film, they directed music videos for bands such as Purity Ring and Passion Pit. An established talent like Ferreira should be a welcome addition to the cast. The movie is currently shooting in Las Vegas.
