Handle App (iOS): Get a Handle On Your To-Dos

As I’ve said many times in the past, organization apps are often life savers. Before the dawn of smartphones I’ve forgotten personal appointments, professional duties, and everything in-between. Handle is yet another app that attempts to help you get a grip on your life, mostly by way of syncing your calendar and email together in one convenient place.

Apple did great work when they eased up on the requirements for on-board email integration. As a result, tons of developers are able to tap into the feature more, as seen with Handle. To really get the most out of it, you need to immediately link it to your iOS calendar and email account. Once you do that, everything is all in one place, allowing you tap into your messages and appointments with ease.

The developers call this a “blueprint” for your day, and tasks can be organized by priority. An unexpected feature of using this app to browse and sort my email is…well…an extra email client. Often times when I was planning my week out I’d get work done in the process, flipping through and labeling which emails were important or which ones could be tossed.

While I don’t typically use the iOS calendar, I tested it out for the purposes of this review, and ended up liking it more than I have in the past. “It just works” with Handle, which is a nice bonus. Again, kudos to Apple for easing up on first-party requirements. As an added bonus, you can also use a Chrome extension and link your accounts. Having said that, the caveat is that only Gmail accounts are supported at the moment. I also encountered small bugs like a lack of input after tapping certain areas, or occasional crashing while using it on an iPhone 6.

Handle has a few kinks to sort out and some more email clients to support, but as a whole it’s an easy recommendation for those of you who need more organization in your life.

Handle is an iOS app that can be downloaded for free in the iTunes App Store.
