Killer Mike, one half of hip-hop duo Run the Jewels, is slated to speak at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology about the state of race relations in America as well as how technology affects the issue and conversation.

Mike’s speaking engagement is a part of MIT’s “Hip Hop Speakers; series, which has included past lectures by Young Guru and Lil B.

The rapper has also written about the criminalization of rap music in an op-ed on Vox, later expounding to HuffPost Live, “It’s used as a tool to literally hang our boys. It is wrong, it is evil, it is vicious, it is maniacal and it is systemic.” In addition, Mike has also appeared on CNN, where he spoke about the aftermath in Ferguson, Mo.

The event is only open to MIT students with a university ID.
