Olympique de Marseille have arguably the most passionate supporters in France. They’re loud, they’re draped in flags and banners, and they create some of the best atmosphere in Europe. Their full-stadium tifo, deployed during Sunday’s crucial match against Paris Saint-Germain, shows why Marseille supporters are hardcore.
The Stade Vélodrome underwent a major facelift in advance of Euro 2016. The renovated stadium serves as an excellent canvas for what can only appropriately be described as an incredible piece of public art. Massive tifo/choreo efforts like this show European football at its absolute best.
The game lived up to the hype as well. A double from André-Pierre Gignac gave the home side the lead at halftime, but a first half strike from Blaise Matuidi, a 49th minute tap-in from Marquinhos, and an own goal from Jérémy Morel gave the Parisians all three points.
