DC Comics  is set to drop a bombshell—okay, more than a dozen of them—this August. After a successful run last June, the publisher will return to the World War II-era retro theme for its August variant covers, which will be featured in Aquaman, Batman, Green Lantern, Superman, Sinestro and more.

Today, we’ve got an exclusive preview of four of those covers: Teen Titans, Green Arrow, Justice League and Sinestro. You can take a look in the gallery above, or scroll below for full-size images.

BombshellsProper.jpgThe news also included a new series from DC: DC Comics Bombshells #1, which will feature retro versions of some of DC’s most famous female heroes. The series follows an alternate timeline where Batwoman, Wonder Woman and Supergirl fight on the front lines of World War II. Marguerite Bennett is set to write, while Marguerite Sauvage will illustrate.

DC Comics Bombshells is one of the wildest things I’ve ever had the pleasure to create—a story of the DC heroines, all the DC heroines, in a crisis that defines themselves as well as their generation,” Bennett said in a press release. “I cannot possibly tell you how excited and grateful I am to be involved in a story this massive and inventive. The series will explore war stories, romances, mysteries, heists, action adventure, and horror in a way that only these characters could do—I cannot wait for this book to drop. Pun very much intended.”

Look out for the DC Bombshells variant covers this August.
