Indie electronic artist Neon Indian put out a new song called “Annie” this week, his first release in more than two years. The mercurial musician, whose given name is Alan Palomo, has been off the musical map for quite a while now, with only a song on the Grand Theft Auto V soundtrack and a five-track remix EP entitled Errata Anex to his name since 2013.
With that said, his new single was well worth the wait: “Annie” is an irresistible slice of summer synth pop that’s buoyed by reggae rhythms and a lilting bass line. With this track, Palomo gives us a taste of his upcoming album, which will be his first full-length release since 2011’s Era Extraña. The album is untitled as of yet, but expected out this year. If the infectious “Annie” is any indication, Palomo was wise to take his time with his new material.
