It’s easy to conflate Alec Baldwin with his 30 Rock character, Jack Donaghy, who could be called “larger than life” if he were portrayed by any other actor. (Tina Fey created the role with Baldwin in mind.) Known for bombast onscreen and off, Baldwin has had few leading roles in major films—The Hunt for Red October being the main exception—but as a supporting actor, no one commands a scene better. To see him at his best, watch his ferocious performance as Blake (another role written for him) in Glengarry Glen Ross, David Mamet’s film adaptation of his Pulitzer-winning play. Next up for Baldwin: Aloha, in theaters May 29.
