The Family Crest likes to do things big. The seven-piece orchestral rock band reaches anthemic status on their new song, “Sparks (Glister Mix),” from the forthcoming album The Art of Peace: Songs for Tibet II, out tomorrow. Punchy drums and lush strings propel the track, as singer Liam McCormick transitions deftly between a rich mid-range and gorgeous falsetto, never losing his sense of urgency.
The song is a worthy follow-up to the band’s latest full-length, last year’s Beneath the Brine, which earned them a spot on Paste’s “The 20 Best New Bands of 2014” list. They’re in the middle of a North American tour in support of the album, and remaining dates can be seen below. Check out their April Riverview Session with us here, or listen to their Daytrotter session from May.
