Last week the outdoor industry descended upon the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City for the bi-annual Outdoor Retailer Convention. Gear-makers unveiled the products they hope will set the 2016 market on fire, gear sellers decided what they’ll carry next spring, and PR people and gear geek journalist types talked a lot—and got tired of the sound of their own voices. But it was a great, bona fide gear-apalooza of an event, and over the next two weeks I’ll be highlighting some of more interesting, promising items I encountered.
1. Columbia Outdry Extreme Diamond Jacket $400; 2. Jetboil Genesis Basecamp 2 Burner System $240; 3. Mountain Hardwear AP Pant & DrySpun Perfect Printed Maxi Dress $90; 4. Therm-a-Rest Neo Air Camper SV $100; 5. Oliberte Scout Boot $TBD; 6. MSR Guardian Purifier $350; 7. Vibram Sole Factor Starting at $75.
