John Oliver and his Celebrity Pals Teach US Sex Ed, Since Our Schools Won’t

Sex education in America is a requirement in just 22 of our 50 states, and the result is a huge information deficit in the very group of people who really need to know this stuff. Bad information, or no information, is a formula for life-altering mistakes, but that’s the current climate we’re living in, with little chance of change.

ENTER JOHN OLIVER!

Joining up with his celebrity friends Laverne Cox, Nick Offerman, Megan Mullaly, Kristen Schaal, and others, Oliver used his Last Week Tonight platform to create a legitimately helpful, and legitimately hilarious, sex ed video.

“Teaching sex ed in schools is really important for obvious reasons: No parent wants to talk to their kids about sex, and no kid wants to talk about sex with their parents,” he said. “That is why when you’re watching a movie together and there’s a sex scene, everyone becomes motionless and silently begs for the merciful release of death.”

Watch the segment above (the actual sex ed video starts at 17:45, but the whole thing is well worth watching), and start petitioning for this to be shown in schools.
