The Roundabout Theatre Company announced this morning that Thom Yorke, Radiohead’s frontman, has signed on to write original music for Harold Pinter’s Broadway staging of Old Time’s starring Clive Owen.
With Pinter’s Old Times operating more as a play rather than a musical, Yorke’s music will serve as a transition between scenes or as an underscoring, rather than an all-out musical.
The 1971 Pinter play will be Clive Owen’s Broadway debut. He stars with Eve Best (Showtime’s Nurse Jackie) and Kelly Reilly (HBO’s True Detective) in the show, about a man and his wife (Best) whose reunion with his wife’s old friend (Reilly) turns ambiguous.
The revival of Old Times begins preview performances on Sept. 17 with an opening date of Oct. 6. It’s a limited engagement running through Nov. 29 at the American Airlines Theatre in New York.
