fans may remember Princess Leia’s gold metal bikini from Return of the Jedi—as if they could forget. Well you now have a chance to purchase the iconic costume at an upcoming Profiles in History auction, according to New York Daily News.
The garment is expected to fetch up to $120,000 and is just one of 50 other covetable Star Wars items up for auction.
In Return of the Jedi, Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) was forced to wear the bikini when she was held captive by Jabba the Hutt.
In a 1983 interview with Rolling Stone, Fisher discussed her role in the film and the famous costume.
“The only way they knew to make the character strong was to make her angry,” Fisher told Rolling Stone. “In Return of the Jedi, she gets to be more feminine, more supportive, more affectionate.”
“But let’s not forget that these movies are basically boys’ fantasies,” she added. “So the other way they made her more female in this one was to have her take off her clothes.”
In addition to Star Wars, memorabilia from Star Trek, Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones, Back to the Future and Terminator will also be available.
The auction will run from Sept. 29 to Oct. 1.
