Future Mad Max: Fury Road Sequels Won't Feature Charlize Theron as Prominently

Though Imperator Furiosa was one of the strongest parts of this last summer’s blockbuster Mad Max: Fury Road, and arguably more central than Max himself, Charlize Theron’s hardened protagonist may not star in any of the sequels.

This comes from an interview with Fury Road director George Miller at DigitalSpy, who said that Furiosa’s character may make an appearance, but she’ll only appear briefly in the coming sequels.

“She’s not in the Mad Max [sequel] story, but in one of the stories there’s an interaction between [Max and Furiosa],” Miller said. “I can’t really say more than that because it’s still in progress.”

Miller also noted that the upcoming Mad Max is only tentatively titled Mad Max: The Wasteland, and that name could change before release.

If you’d like to see Theron’s knockout performance in Mad Max: Fury Road, you can pick it up on DVD and Blu-ray right now.
