You may remember Jake Shimabukuro from his viral YouTube video cover of “While My Guitar Gently Weeps.” The ukulele virtuoso recently stopped by the Paste Studio to serenade us with a few tracks.
Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, Shimabukuro played local coffee shops and gigs before signing to Epic Records in 2002 as the first signed ukulele player at Sony Music. Thirteen years later, he has collaborated with countless artists, sold out venues all over the country, and performed for Queen Elizabeth II at the Royal Variety Performance in England. Not too shabby.
