Skye Steele finished up his debut solo album, Up From The Bitterroot, at the close of 2014 and hit the road playing DIY shows all over the country. In addition to his tour, Steele was able to collaborate on violin with the likes of Vanessa Carlton, Jolie Holland, Deer Tick, and Bollywood superstar Arijit Singh.
But, wait: there’s more. In between touring and collaborating with an impressive roster of artists, Skye headed to LA to write and record with producer/guitarist Cassorla (Taylor Goldsmith, Blitzen Trapper, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros).
Now, the artist is debuting “Take Me On,” the first preview of this collab.
“After working on Up From The Bitterroot for two years, which was such a journey into darkness and bewilderment, I really wanted my next move to be something fun,” said Steele. “Cassorla has this great chilled-out west coast thing in his sound, but he and I were playing avant garde music together in New York 15 years ago, so he gets my weirdness, and I knew he’d help me keep that in there while making something much brighter.
“Also, singing over the strings and harp in the bridge made me feel like a Disney princess, which is something I think every man should experience at some time.”
