Mark Ryan’s latest project Mind Spiders seems to fall in the void between human and machine. In fact, Ryan describes his band’s newest single as such: “A random relentless machine sequence makes up the bed of the song. The humans in the band pound on their instruments along with it.”
Ryan, the former frontman of Denton, Texas’ punk group Marked Men, now takes a darker pop approach to his music. More specifically, Mind Spiders blends precise elements of programmed beats with spacey improvisational psych-rock. And the title track off the band’s forthcoming LP, Prosthesis, wholly encapsulates that contradiction.
Prosthesis is due out on March 12 via Dirtnap Records and you can listen to the title track here.
