Nate Leavitt & The Elevation's first single “Take Me Back” is an upbeat song with a downtrodden message. “What ever happened to the days when I was happier,” the opening line, begs for an answer from anyone who will listen. At one point, as the melody softens, it almost seems like a daydream. Leavitt sings “Take me back to who I was before,” but the explosion of harmonies and electric guitars brings him back to conscious reality. Time is a fickle ally, and it’s hard to say when it will be in your corner. Sometimes it’s easier to look to the past, and Leavitt feels that “if I could go back to those times it would help me remember what it was like.” A combination of melodies rise up throughout, and bring Leavitt to new heights; such is fitting of the project as a whole: Nate Leavitt & The Elevation.
The single is off Nate Leavitt & the Elevation's upcoming EP, Someone Send a Signal, due out April 22.
