Sony Releases Statement on Kesha and Dr. Luke’s Contract

Music News Kesha

Following the recent ruling that denied Kesha’s injunction alongside a surge of support for the singer, Scott A. Edelman, a lawyer for Sony has released a statement to New York Times.

Edelman said, “Sony has made it possible for Kesha to record without any connection, involvement or interaction with Luke whatsoever, but Sony is not in a position to terminate the contractual relationship between Luke and Kesha.” The statement also stated, “Sony is doing everything it can to support the artist in these circumstances, but is legally unable to terminate the contract to which it is not a party.”

Kesha is currently signed to Dr. Luke’s label, Kemosabe Records, a subsidiary of Sony. Their contract was through his production company Kasz Money Inc. Dr. Luke has denied all accusations and has spoken out through Twitter.

Many celebrities ranging from JoJo, Taylor Swift, and Adele have offered support to Kesha. She recently broke her silence with a heartfelt message on Facebook. Stay Strong, Kesha.
