SXSW Announces Its Massive Lineup Of Films

Movies News SXSW

With Sundance coming to a close, it’s time to get ready for the next major American Film Festival: South By Southwest. Today, the multimedia bonanza revealed its first wave of feature films across a variety of categories, including the narrative and documentary competitions.

SXSW had previously announced that Richard Linklater’s Everybody Wants Some, the “spiritual sequel to Dazed and Confused,” would be the Opening Night Film, but now it’s joined by a number of other notable projects: Demolition, starring Jake Gyllenhal as a grieving investment banker; Don’t Think Twice, a film about an improv troupe starring Keegan-Michael Key; and Pee Wee Herman’s return to the big screen in Pee Wee’s Big Holiday.

Each of the narrative and documentary competition categories features 10 films. Other showcases at SXSW include the Visions experimental film showcase, the 24 Beats per Second music-focused showcase, and SXGlobal, the international film showcase.

Next week, SXSW will announce the finalists for its short films competition, and the following Tuesday, the festival will announce the speakers at the film conference. Check out the full lineup of feature films here.
