Violent Femmes made the typical late night TV appearance that all bands on the verge of releasing a new album make. They played their latest single “Memory” on Colbert to promote their upcoming album We Can Do Anything, out Mar. 4. What TV viewers didn’t see, however, was the band’s performance of “Blister in the Sun,” released as a web exclusive this morning and featuring none other than Stephen Colbert himself on guest vocals. He’s mesmerizing, as his verse devolves into a whisper before a triumphant return to the chorus.
