The current videogame market is a landscape where mobile is king, for better or worse, in terms of mass appeal and especially television and web advertising. Years ago, it would have been ridiculous to think of mobile games running multimillion dollar campaigns on prime time television, but that was long before Kate Upton and Game of War.
Andy Samberg is now the latest to jump into mobile game advertising, appearing in a new campaign for Mixi, Inc’s Monster Strike. The spot amusingly satirizes sports movie conventions, in particular the late-film “inspirational locker room speech” that sends its team—in this case a team of monsters—back out onto the field to secure the W.
