Eddie Pittman helped bring Disney’s animated features to life from the late ‘90s to the early aughties, lending his fluid linework to such films as Tarzan, Fantasia 2000 and Lilo & Stitch. He then moved on to Paste Editor-in-Chief Josh Jackson’s favorite cartoon, Phineas and Ferb, where he wrote and served as storyartist for the misadventures of two step-brothers and their platypus.
Now Pittman is bringing his charm and energy to sequential art in Red’s Planet, a new graphic novel series from Amulet, based on his webcomic of the same name. Out on April 19, the story follows a sassy misfit adolescent as she’s carried off by a cow-tipping UFO to an alien world. She soon encounters a “whole mess of weird” and a humanoid panther named Goose. Check out the adorable midwestern accents and intergalactic hijinks in the trailer above.
