The Disney mash-ups will never end, and frankly, who wants them to? In his series, @DrunkDisney, Tim Weydt delivers on exactly what the handle promises, mashing up seminal Disney scenes with booze. @DrunkDisney has over 33K followers on Instagram, with many images and gifs going viral.
Growing up in the ‘90s, Weydt and his buddies loved Disney movies and songs. When he went to college, he took some of that Disney fandom with him. “I lived in a bit of a party house, six guys with typical college drinking habits living under one roof,” Weydt says. “I can remember one party when the house was packed with people wall-to-wall and we played “Let’s Get Down to Business” from Mulan. I have literally never seen more excitement and enthusiasm in my life than the 100 drunk college students singing that song. From that point on, playing Disney songs at our parties became a bit of a tradition.”
Through his images, these Disney characters that have become so important to American childhood get to go through emerging adulthood. “My account is focused towards the 20-somethings who grew up with these amazing films by depicting Disney characters in a way that relates to our current young-adult lifestyle,” Weydt says. “The images play on the innocence of Disney and the fact that so many people can relate to the characters. For someone who has had a few experiences with alcohol, my account allows them to relate to these characters on a whole new level.”
