Fred Armisen to Voice Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Supervillain Krang

Movies News Fred Armisen

During a WonderCon panel this past weekend, it was officially announced that Portlandia star and Saturday Night Live alum Fred Armisen will (vocally) embody the big bad in the next installment of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise.

Specifically, the sketch comedian and musician—who has done voice work in the past—will star as the alien supervillain Krang in TMNT: Out of the Shadows, which is slated to hit theaters on June 3. Armisen’s past voice work includes roles in Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Squidbillies, Archer, The Looney Toons Show and the Smurfs.

Director Michael Bay had in the past alluded to a desire to bring the extraterrestrial to the franchise and now both we and the Turtles have it, in addition to the interdimensional threats that come along with it. According to the panel, fans can expect more of the film’s marketing to include Krang from here on out, with producer Brad Fuller promising, “Anyone who loves Fred will love what he is doing.”
