Director J.J. Abrams has confirmed that movies based on two classic Valve games are in development. Stories are currently being written for big screen adaptations of Half-Life and Portal.

In 2013, Abrams expressed interest in working with Valve’s Gabe Newell on game and movie projects.

Last week, the director spoke with IGN about the collaboration, saying,“they’re in development and we’ve got writers and we’re working on both those stories.”

Beyond that, Abrams gave no further details on the projects.

In 2011, Dan Trachtenberg released fan movie Portal: No Escape and several years later, Trachtenberg worked as director on the just-released 10 Cloverfield Lane, which Abrams produced.

It’s a small Hollyworld after all.
