You can listen to the new Prince station of Paste Radio here.
2016 has not been kind to music’s greats. First David Bowie, now the undefinable, irreplaceable Prince —a man who has left his mark not just the music industry, but many people’s lives.
Although he was perhaps best known for his Purple Rain album, Prince was an artist whose work was far ahead of his time, impacting music culture on a multi-generational scale. Like his creativity and his powerful presence, his impact will be everlasting in the music world.
Those who knew him had nothing but positive things to say about the icon as a man, an advocate, a mentor, an artist and a true creative genius. Which is why the outpouring of sadness around his death—and his immortal influence on music lovers, celebrities, artists, media members, and more—has reverberated so strongly across social media. Here at Paste as well, there has been shock and sadness. Just this morning, we published a full 1982 Prince concert before the news broke, and just a week ago, music editor Bonnie Stiernberg attended Prince’s Atlanta show and wrote a recap, which Prince himself later tweeted.
