Hamilton and The Color Purple Pay Broadway Tributes to Prince

The world is going to be mourning Prince Rogers Nelson for quite some time, which means we’re going to be listening to Prince tributes for the foreseeable future. That’s a good thing, to be clear; his music touched the lives of millions of people and deserves to be celebrated.

Last night, two stalwart Broadway musicals got the tribute game started. Hamilton, fresh off winning the Pulitzer Prize, ended its performance with a rendition of “Let’s Go Crazy” that lived up to the song’s title. Meanwhile, Jennifer Hudson and the cast of The Color Purple brought down the house with a stunning version of “Purple Rain.” Check out the former above and the latter below.
