Neil Young Announces Live Hybrid Album EARTH

Music News Neil Young

In the past Neil Young has played with some Stray Gators and a Crazy Horse, but now on his just announced EARTH album he’ll be sharing the stage with bears, birds, crickets, bees, horses and cows. The hybrid live album features performances from a range of Young’s albums cut live during his 2015 tour, which were overdubbed to include sounds of Earth. It’s out June 17 via Reprise Records.

“Ninety-eight uninterrupted minutes long, EARTH flows as a collection of 13 songs from throughout my life, songs I have written about living here on our planet together,” Young said in a press release. “Our animal kingdom is well represented in the audience as well, and the animals, insects, birds, and mammals actually take over the performances of the songs at times.”

On May 6, Young will present the first public playback of EARTH in its entirety at The Natural History Museum Los Angeles County in Pono high definition fidelity audio. Tickets are available here.

EARTH’s tracklist is:

“People Want to Hear About Love” (from The Monsanto Years)
“Big Box” (from The Monsanto Years)
“Mother Earth” (from Ragged Glory)
“The Monsanto Years” (from The Monsanto Years)
“I Won’t Quit” (previously unreleased)
“Western Hero” (from Sleeps With Angels)
“Vampire Blues” (from On The Beach)
“Hippie Dream” (from Landing On Water)
“After The Gold Rush” (from After The Gold Rush)
“Wolf Moon” (from The Monsanto Years)
“Love & Only Love” (from Ragged Glory)

Young, who is forever mining his back-catalog, will also be releasing two rare films— concert movie Rust Never Sleeps and musical comedy Human Highway— for the first time ever on DVD and Blu Ray on June 10.
