Americana band Cereus Bright demonstrated how to take a disco staple, The Bee Gees’ “Stayin’ Alive,” and transform it into a haunting proclamation. Now, the Tennessee group has taken a similar route with The Beatles’ “Michelle” in a music video released today. The cover was originally released last November on the album Looking Through You: A 50th Anniversary Tribute to the Beatles’ Rubber Soul, which featured bands such as Blessed Feathers and Bombadil.

Cereus Bright’s take on McCartney’s ode strolls at a slower pace than the original, and this version gives off a more bluesy and soulful air. Singer Tyler Anthony’s vocals are yearning, granting the song a sultry and intimate vibe. His voice delicately trembles and reaches a higher range. The drums kick in later to add a somber shadow, and the guitar solo in the middle provides a provocative break before Anthony enters back in with force.
