The Funniest Tweets About the Republican National Convention's Second Night

The Trump storm keeps rolling across America’s heartland, as the Republican National Convention is still happening in Cleveland. Today the party officially nominated Trump as its candidate, meaning folks like us can finally drop the word “presumptive” whenever we talk about this guy. After the nomination the convention hosted a series of increasingly insane and inane speakers, from UFC president Dana White (who’s made millions by underpaying roid men to concuss each other) to random soap opera actress / avocado farmer Kimberlin Brown. The most memorable moments came from old friends Chris Christie and Ben Carson, though. The former lead the audience, mouths full of froth and dentures, in a call and response extrajudicial prosecution of Hillary Clinton for the various supposed misdeeds that keep right wing fingers glued to Breitbart comment sections. And then Ben Carson, noble and inspiring surgeon turned national laughingstock, basically said Clinton was a devil worshipper, which is probably the most exciting lie anybody has said about her so far during this convention. (Every other lie has been boring as shit, to be honest.) So yes, the night subtitled “Make America Work Again” was another red meat assault on the opposing candidate, with calls for her to be arrested and accusations of her being Rosemary’s baby all grown up, or something. It was so unhinged that it almost made Donald Trump Jr. seem like a normal, mild-mannered guy during his speech and not The Muppet Babies version of his dad that he normally comes off as. So yeah, good times, and frightening times, as 2016 has become known for. And as always, the best companion for this madness is the constant stream of comments from Twitter, where comedians and friends and comedian friends can talk directly and personally to you and all their other followers. Here are the best tweets about the second night of the 2016 RNC, from the usual suspects.
