In January, DC Comics unveiled a teaser for one of the most anticipated films of next summer, Wonder Woman.

DC’s latest live-action film, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice received negative feedback for its storyline. Previously, people anticipated that Jason Fuchs, who was hired to give treatments for the Wonder Woman story, would be writing the new Wonder Woman movie, but Warner Bros. announced at San Diego’s Comic-Con that Geoff Johns and Allan Heinberg would be the main screenplay writers for the film.

Johns and Heinberg have had experience working together on Justice League of America and Wonder Woman comic books. Johns is currently the Chief Creative Officer of DC Comics and has written for The Flash, Arrow and Justice League. Heinberg has a strong background of TV writing, including for The O.C., Grey’s Anatomy, Gilmore Girls, Sex and the City and The Catch.

With the announcement of the screenwriters, came an official plot synopsis. The script is based off Allan Heinberg and Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice.

The press release reads:

Wonder Woman hits movie theaters around the world next summer when Gal Gadot returns as the title character in the epic action adventure from director Patty Jenkins. Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.

Wonder Woman , directed by Patty Jenkins, is set to hit theatres on June 2, 2017.
