Comedy Bang! Bang!’s forthcoming fifth season on IFC will, sadly, be its last. The cult comedy series’ host Scott Aukerman announced the news today in a series of tweets (included below), promising “some crazy stuff in the final ten [episodes].”
The show’s last episodes will air weekly, including back-to-back shows on Fridays, before the two-part series finale on Dec. 10. Season five will match Comedy Bang! Bang!’s first season size, while seasons two and three each comprised 20 episodes and season four a whopping 40.
“Comedy Bang! Bang! has been an incredibly important show for IFC,” said IFC president Jennifer Caserta in a press release. “Over five seasons and more than 100 episodes, Scott Aukerman has been a comedic force who has meant so much to us, Comedy Bang! Bang! had a unique sensibility in the comedy space, and delivered an amazing array of A-list guest stars.”
Speaking of guest stars, the last season’s slate includes: Malin Akerman, Mike Colter, Kaley Cuoco, Ben Folds, Gillian Jacobs, Allison Janney, Jason Mantzoukas, Haley Joel Osment, Chris Parnell, Krysten Ritter, Adam Scott, Paul F. Tompkins, Matt Walsh and former musical co-host Reggie Watts.
Comedy Bang! Bang! season five starts Friday, Oct. 28 with back-to-back episodes at 11 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. EST. Tune in to relish the show’s swan song, and find Aukerman’s tweets below—the last one, in particular, is pretty neat.
