Watch the Moving Official Trailer for Season Three of Transparent

The Emmy Award-winning Transparent returns for its third season on Sept. 23. The new season of the Amazon series will take us back to 1953 when Maura (Jeffrey Tambor) knew already that she was born in the wrong body. We’ll also see how Maura continues to negotiate her new self with her family in the present day.

In the official trailer, Maura reveals that she wants to be called Mom now. When one person in the family transitions, everyone transitions, Maura’s ex-wife Shelley (Judith Light) says. So, even as Maura grapples with her new identity, her kids have some soul searching of their own to do. They’re all just trying to be their best selves.
