Finally, the Champions League is back.
Europe’s preeminent club competition returned on Tuesday, featuring a slate of opening group stage matches, the first game day on a road that ends in Cardiff on June 3, 2017. Tuesday delivered no real upsets but plenty to talk about nonetheless.
Barca did terrible, terrible things to Celtic, and Brendan Rodgers’ crumbling reputation. Bayern rolled, with young Joshua Kimmich starring. Arsenal was Arsenal (sort of) and torrential rain in Manchester forced a game to be postponed. Other things also happened.
It all made for excellent Twitter fodder. The world’s (English-speaking) Twitter community let loose with all of their collected wisdom, mirth, and pithiness. Naturally, we were watching.
