NoCoast is brand-spanking new, launching just last month (August 2016), so I’m judging this beer strictly on looks alone. It could suck, it could be awesome. I don’t know. But I love the label work and I love the attitude behind NoCoast’s marketing spiel. Based in Oskaloosa, Iowa (I have no idea where that is), the brewery has a “Middlefesto” (that’s a manifesto coming out of the middle of the country) that celebrates Midwestern pride. They’re not ashamed of their flyover state status, and flaunt their geography through their name, NoCoast, and various slogans (“middle of the map, on tap,” “land over sand”). And then, like I said, the labels are awesome. Sometimes cartoonish, sometimes inspired by fine art, always refreshing. Take a peek.
