Live Photos: Angel Olsen Will Make You Openly Sob @Warsaw, Brooklyn

Last weekend, Angel Olsen treated NYC to two nights of sold-out shows with her backing band alongside opener, Alex Cameron. Paste caught Sunday night’s show at Warsaw in Brooklyn. Cameron, a new artist on the Secretly Canadian label, loosened the crowd with smooth music, dancing and supplementary saxophone.

Olsen is currently on the road in support of her latest album, My Woman, and while only a few short days into her tour, the Chicago singer-songwriter exercised a finesse that made her new tracks sound just as honed and natural as any of her older work. Tracks performed from previous releases—including the acoustic, chilling “Acrobat” off 2012’s Half Way Home as well as the heart-stopping churner “Windows” from Burn Your Fire For No Witness—rang with conviction and emotion, the work of a musician who can both gut and uplift you in the space of five minutes.
