When the organizers of KAABOO Del Mar began assembling their acts, did they have to make a very, very concentrated effort to ensure that Hall & Oates and Garfunkel & Oates didn’t perform on the same day, both for the sake of schedule clarity and avoiding a repeat encounter of this ? Either way, we can only salute an organization that knows both the value of delightful Dad-friendly ‘80s pop and one of Paste’s favorite comedic duos of all time.
In general, last Sunday offered the most gold out of the San Diego festival’s sophomore outing, which is to say it unleashed a metric load of white Americana dudes who Paste has spilled inordinate amounts of digital ink over: Shakey Graves, The Avett Brothers, Jason Isbell and Jack Johnson let the festival chill after the impromptu ruckus Steve Aoki caused the night before. Or maybe Cheech & Chong aided in that endeavor with more than just their humor. Either way, good times.
