Polyvinyl Records to Release 20th-Anniversary Covers Compilation Album, Polyvinyl Plays Polyvinyl

Polyvinyl Record Co. is celebrating its 20th anniversary in November. Headquartered in Champaign, Ill., the label has a catalog of more than 300 releases, such as: of Montreal’s Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer?, Japandroids’ Celebration Rock, the self-titled debut from American Football, Mates of State’s Team Boo, Alvvays’ self-titled debut and Braid’s Frame & Canvas.

Polyvinyl enlisted 20 different artists from their roster, both past and present, to cover their favorite bands and songs from the label’s own catalog to celebrate the anniversary. The result is Polyvinyl Plays Polyvinyl, a 20-song covers compilation album. Included are a number of noteworthy tunes, from the perfect marriage of Beach Slang and Japandroids to Rainer Maria’s first recorded music in a decade.

The compilation’s artwork was designed by Grammy-nominated artist Jesse LeDoux. LeDoux pulled from two decades worth of releases to create the cover.
