Inspired by President Barack Obama’s keynote speech earlier this year on civic engagement and building a better, South by Southwest is coming to the White House in the form of South by South Lawn, and now we know who to expect at the festival.
The biggest name at the festival is probably Leonardo DiCaprio, who will sit down with President Obama and Dr. Katharine Hayhoe to discuss climate change, as well as Leo’s forthcoming documentary Before the Flood.
Musical guests will include The Lumineers, Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings, and DJ Beverly Bond.
The 3rd Annual White House Student Film Festival will also be held at the festival, with a discussion with the student filmmakers and Stranger Things creators the Duffer Brothers. Three student films will be selected to be screened, along with appearances from the cast of Stranger Things. Those kids must be able to bend time and space or something, because they seem to be everywhere at all times.
South by South Lawn will take place on Oct. 3 and while it’s too late to get yourself some tickets, you can watch a livestream of the festival at WhiteHouse.gov, on the White House’s Facebook page, or on SXSW’s YouTube channel. You can see the full schedule for South by South Lawn here.
