Wolverine 3 Finds its Villain in Mister Sinister

Movies News Hugh Jackman

The X-Men franchise can be a bit messy. There are multiple ongoing stories, and each has its own timeline. The core X-Men will next be seen in the nineties, but Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine is having his own adventures in the future, which brings us to the unofficially titled Wolverine 3, which may be the last time Jackman dawns the signature claws.

Now, thanks to the folks at Cinema Blend, we know who Wolverine’s adversary will be in that film. It turns out, in listening to the commentary for the recently digitally released X-Men: Apocalypse, which features an after-credits tease for Mister Sinister, director Bryan Singer and producer Simon Kinberg revealed that the scene was there to tease Wolverine 3’s villain.

The next installment in Wolverine’s saga has largely been shrouded in secrecy. James Mangold is set to direct the film, which seems to be a road-trip movie with Wolverine and Professor X. Other than Jackman, the cast is largely unknown, as well.

There have been rumors about the involvement of Richard E. Grant, a British actor who has reportedly been cast as a mad scientist. It turns out that that description fits Mister Sinister like a glove, so we may already know who’s set to take on the role. Wolverine 3 is set to come out on March 3, 2017. Until then, you’ll just have to rewatch The Wolverine and marvel at the fact that Hugh Jackman continues to not age.
