The upcoming debut release from Antenna Man sounds like it came straight outta Uncle Tupelo’s No Depression era. Mark Wolven’s whiskey-drenched vocals immediately call to mind Jay Farrar in an honest and raw story-telling approach. The album, Elaine Jr, recorded at Postal Recording (Margot & the Nuclear So and So’s) in Indianapolis, is due out on February 17.
The crackle of radio static almost palpable. As the first song, “Guitarless Man,” dials in, the crunch of leaves gives way to the warm swell of a Telecaster guitar and steady rolling rhythm of drums.
