Pop-rock band of sisters Haim stepped up to help the California Lottery with its #ThankATeacher project, which models expressing gratitude to past and present educators.
The Haim women were filmed going back to their high school to thank their beloved former history teacher, Mr. Freedman, who appears to be some sort of earthly angel. After a round of heartwarming greetings, he says with deep sincerity, “I have friends who retired 20 years ago, and all I could think of is the generations of students they never met. They tell me all the cruises they went on; that’s not the same as having you.”
Good grief. That’s a teacher whose heart is so pure he could’ve come from an unrealistic YA novel. Watch Haim’s touching reunion with Mr. Freedman above, and below, listen to their 2012 Daytrotter session at Good Danny’s in Austin via the Paste Cloud.
