Luke Temple has been releasing music for more than a decade as both a solo musician and the frontman Here We Go Magic. This week, Temple is set to release his sixth solo effort, A Hand Through The Cellar Door on Secretly Canadian. While minimal compared to his previous material, it manages to grab and hold the listener’s attention through storytelling that majestically reflects the human condition. It’s a quiet, haunting record, a dissection of the stories of everyone you’ve ever known, loved or simply passed in the street.

Last month, Paste caught Temple singing to a sold-out audience at the Co-Cathedral of St. Joseph in Brooklyn, where he opened for Blonde Redhead. The cathedral offered the perfect backdrop for Temple to play some of the more contemplative songs off his new album. Check out the gallery above by photographer Taylor Swaim for some behind- the-scenes photos, and listen to Luke Temple’s latest single “”The Birds Of Late December.
