Last Wednesday, country icon and fiddle deity Charlie Daniels celebrated his 80th birthday by playing alongside a host of genre mainstays including Travis Tritt, Luke Bryan and Chris Stapleton at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena. The night marked the latest of the musician’s Volunteer Jams, a series that kicked off in 1974, which featured a drop-in by The Allman Brothers Band. The latest entry donated $245,000 of its earnings to Daniel’s Journey Home charity, an NGO that helps US military veterans. Also: Luke Bryan slugged a guy who flipped him off. Kid Rock and 3 Doors Down broadened the genre by also making appearances. Check out the gallery of the raucous show above, courtesy photographer Amy Harris.
