Pantone Announces Color of the Year 2017

Today, Pantone revealed the much anticipated Color of The Year for 2017. This year, Pantone picked Greenery, a beautiful shade of yellow-green, because it “symbolizes the reconnection we seek with nature, one another, and a larger purpose, according to Pantone’s Executive Director Leatrice Eiseman. This shade is very versatile and can be paired with many different color schemes, which allows for a wide variety of uses. It’s also a color that can be worn all year and has been popping up in many Spring 2017 collections. Greenery is described as “fresh” and “zesty”. We think it’s perfect for 2017 – everyone could use a fresh start in the new year.

Greenery has always been in the background, but now it’s being pulled into the spotlight. The creative community has been patiently waiting for the announcement for some time. Last year the Color of the Year was actually two colors combined: Rose Quartz and Serenity. Designers are excited to get back to basics with just one major driver for 2017 color palettes. Pantone is the industry standard color matching tool, so the company selection is based on widespread trend research and will make a significant impact across fashion, interiors, graphics and art design in the year to come.
