In October, psych-pop artist Sam Kogon released “I Was Always Talking,” a duet with folk rocker and 2014 Best of What’s Next pick Frankie Cosmos. Kogon has described the track as a “friend break-up” song about “beginning to realize that some of my friends I still knew from college were no longer my friends anymore.”
This poignant concept has been given a bizarre and dramatic spin in the newly released animated music video. The protagonists are quite literally star-crossed lovers, an alien (Cosmos) and human (Kogon) who are forced to separate when Cosmos returns to the cosmos. The end credits read: “Now human boy alone eternity. Human boy write song about the infinite sad.”
