New Line Comedy Game Night to Star Rachel McAdams and Jason Bateman

Rachel McAdams and Jason Bateman will star in a new murderous comedy film, Game Night, from Vacation directing duo Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley.

In development with New Line Cinema, Game Night was written in 2013 by Mark Perez. Goldstein and Daley finished the latest draft of the screenplay wherein Bateman and McAdams will be featured as one of several couples gathering for a regularly scheduled game night in which something goes horribly wrong, possibly one of those violent altercations immediately following a draw four card in Uno.

Bateman will also produce the film along with James Garavente for Aggregate Films. Bateman recently starred in the holiday comedy Office Christmas Party, and is currently in the middle of production for Ozark, a new Netflix original series drama where he will star, produce and direct a few episodes, set for release later this year.

This will serve as McAdam’s first true comedic role since Wedding Crashers, more than a decade ago. She recently made her superhero-film debut in Doctor Strange last November, following her turn in last year’s Best Picture-awarded film Spotlight, where she also nabbed a nod for Best Performance.

Goldstein and Daley have recently been busy writing the script for Spiderman: Homecoming, and previously wrote Horrible Bosses 2. We’re pretty early in the production stages, so no Game Night release date has been set. We’ll likely see additions to the cast coming soon, and keep you updated.
