Live Photos: Anna Wise Dances through Her Brooklyn Residency

Anna Wise’s silky vocals grace some of Kendrick Lamar’s best work, including “These Walls” off the Grammy-winning To Pimp a Butterfly and “Real.” But the R&B upstart also boasts gorgeous solo work split between two EPs, last year’s The Feminine: Act I and its sequel, The Feminine: Act II, which released last week. Confident, progressive and damn catchy, the latter album plays off funk, jazz and dance to showcase Wise’s versatile pipes. The singer has spent every Thursday in February performing at C’Mon Everybody, the Brooklyn arts space located in the Bed-Stuy neighborhood. Paste photographer DeShaun Craddock spent two of the dates capturing the musician as she sang over loops and ended every night dancing with the audience. She was joined by Madison McFerrin, Thirdstory, Zenizen and Vox. Her final performance in the residency is tonight, with openers Salt Cathedral.
