Being a dog owner and working full time can be rough, but Scottish brewery Brewdog has a new “paw-ternity policy” to take some of the bite out of leaving a new pup at home.
The Aberdeenshire-based brewery’s been running since 2007, but just announced the policy which gives employees with new puppies a paid week off to get their dogs acclimated to a new environment.
James Watt, one of Brewdog’s two owners, recently told a news station, “We wanted to take the stress out of the situation and let our teams take the time they need to welcome their new puppy or dog into their family.”
Both Watt and co-owner Martin Dickie are dog owners, and company headquarters has about 50 “office dogs” sniffing around the place.
Brewdog has 44 bars and about 1,000 employees on its leash as of 2015, and is opening a location in Columbus, Ohio, in the spring, which will also implement the “paw-ternity policy.” No word yet about whether cats will eventually be included.
