Paste can exclusively share that SundanceTV has just released a new trailer for season two of Hap and Leonard, an original series based off of the characters created by novelist Joe R. Langsdale. Season two’s subtitle is Mucho Mojo, based off Langsdale’s second novel. Starring James Purefoy and Michael Kenneth Williams, the show follows a duo of amateur investigators as they try to solve a murder mystery.
SundanceTV discussed the forthcoming season in a press release, saying:
Inspired by the second book in the famed series by Joe R. Lansdale, Hap and Leonard follows two lifelong best friends—Hap Collins (Purefoy) and Leonard Pine (Williams)—as they find themselves in mucho-trouble, caught in the middle of a murder mystery with more twists and turns than an East Texas highway. Set in the late 1980s, the story begins with a skeleton, Trudy’s missing ashes, a literal pissing match with a neighborhood drug dealer, and a piece of MeMaw’s famous pie.
Joining Purefoy and Williams in the new season are Brian Dennehy, Irma P. Hall, Dohn Norwood, Tiffany Mack and Cranston Johnson.
Season two of Hap and Leonard premieres on SundanceTV on March 15. Watch the new trailer above, and before season two comes back, check out Paste’s interview with Langsdale here and find our five reasons to watch Hap and Leonard here.
